The Talent Show: Republican Elitist Watch

Check out the blog I linked to. Who else but Chameleon McCain could be such a pandering asshole and tell a room full of union workers
McCain responded by saying immigrants were taking jobs nobody else wanted. He offered anybody in the crowd $50 an hour to pick lettuce in Arizona.

Shouts of protest rose from the crowd, with some accepting McCain's job offer.

"I'll take it!" one man shouted.

McCain insisted none of them would do such menial labor for a complete season. "You can't do it, my friends."

Evil Monkey's wife points out that there are prostitutes who work for much less, and only an out-of-touch elitist pig would suggest your average American couldn't handle an honest day's work. Hell, I'd happily pick lettuce for $50 bucks an hour.

This is a wakeup call to everyone who honestly doesn't think there is an ongoing class war in the US.

  • HUMN...
50$ an hour? Is that supposed to read 50$/day or 5$/hour? [Or is your claim that McCain is so smoking crack as to have no clue what pickers earn?]

NB: Vergelimbo is a veteran of the pineapple fields of Yepoon, Queeensland. [1995 pay: 11$/hr] Any seasoned fruit-picker knowswill that pineapple picking is like wading through waist-high "ginsu" steak knives in 110 degree heat. Australia has a very reasonable minimum wage system, relative to here: [QV: google "Award wage system, Australia"]

PS: I hear you have a notorious neighbor: Brian "Filthy Pig" Doyle.
